🪖Major ARTHUR GODFREY PEUCHEN 🎖was one of the many affluent guests traveling on the Titanic’s inaugural voyage; he survived while 11 other millionaires perished. As the ship was being evacuated, Peuchen recalled going back to his stateroom and putting THREE ORANGES 🍊 and a pearl pin in his pockets 🤔

He left behind his jewelry, the gifts he had bought for his kids, and $200,000 worth of stocks and bonds 💰

Peuchen had a crystal clear understanding of the distinction between NECESSITIES and non-necessities during the Titanic’s dramatic final minutes of travel 😉

THREE ORANGES were all he chose to bring along, but he knew they could save his life or the life of someone else while they were waiting to be rescued. 🙏🏻 A few hours before, it would have been absurd to believe that he would accept oranges in exchange for the smallest of her gems 💍
