The report also assesses the state of R&amp;D financing and the activity of companies that make up the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udcb8Overall, the report shows that pharmaceutical companies have increased their investment in R&amp;D by 43% in the last five years. Of the \u20ac666.5 billion in revenue generated by the top pharmaceutical companies in 2022, the report states that 18.8% OF THE TOTAL REVENUE WAS ALLOCATED TO DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS, which translates to ONE IN EVERY FIVE euros generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc8aDespite this positive trend and the fact that 2022 saw the highest R&amp;D investment in history, the percentage of revenue dedicated to R&amp;D has fallen to 19%, four tenths lower than in 2021 when the index was at 19.3%.
